When in the planning stage of design, I can never seem to decide on color, I love so many and the combinations are endless. One thing for sure it I always come back to green. This site has offers a great insight into color and personality. Green for me seems to fit. Does your favorite color match you?

We started the Knitting Knook in March as part of the Red Thread Studio. It has been encouraging to see people coming and all the interest in the yarns, we are still working out the class and letting everyone know we are here, but I think it will only continue to build with time. This is a lovely shawl by Sasha the founder of the Knook.

Our brick and mortar shop the Red Thread Studio is located in an historic downtown in redevelopment phases. We struggle to get people to think about coming back into small towns and buying from small local shops. This seek end we are starting our monthly art walk event Suffolk First Saturdays. We are bring in artisans and musicians it will be great fun. My hope is to build on it each month as new renovation and businesses open around us. Finding focus has always been a problem for me-I want to do some many things and asking for help is no easy. Watching the new "Fashion Show" on Bravo, I am wondering what it would be like to work in that type of situation, you have a limited time, and a specific purpose, budget, and theme/concept to complete one garment. I know it is TV and there is the conflict of the other people and all, but what would it be like to just have that to do. Most of us work in a very different kind of situation, we have many tasks to come together while trying to design, and create a group of items to present to clients. Plus the fact that our daily life activities are going on all around us all the time, may distractions. It might be interesting to just work in a different way.
This photograph feels like my life right now. It has been a crazy few months at the Red Thread and new product, and design techniquesas well as the school year ending. I am so looking forward to moving forward with new products, moving away from old things-not working and moving ahead with many ideas. We will be launching the new mini collection and a shiny new blog design right here, in a few weeks.
I will have lots of new photos of the studio and shop redesign and summer window displays.
Looking at a lot of print designs, while working on our new product line, I have found so many interesting colors and patterns. Print and Pattern is a great on line resource for such things.
This is Rachael Taylor,her layering of pattern and whimsical hand drawn look is a favorite for me.
It is Fashion Week in NYC. I always like to focus on independent designers in the shop and here on line. Since I have been into yarn lately I love how this designer uses touches of crochet with here great mixed fabric pattern designs.

I have been working on a big new project at the Red Thread. My friend Sasha is joining me in opening the Knitting Knook inside our existing shop. I has been work and a learning experience for me. I am not a real knitter, I play with yarn for embellishing my fabric work. I do love all the texture and color, and it feels like this is going to be a great addition to the studio with all the slow down of the economy in this area. We have been successfully selling a small line of hand spun yarns and will now be offering more classes and studio work space for artisans and design.
